Pre-Order the iPhone 4s on October 7th!
Come October 7th Apple’s servers will be taxed with inevitable rush of iPhone 4s pre-orders. However, they will probably not be in any danger of crashing since the majority of the iPhone community met the October 4th announcement with disappointment.
It is too bad the Tim Cook era of Apple presentations was met with such a let down to a community ravenous for a new iPhone. The steady stream of blog posts and images over the past 14 months about the ALL NEW iPhone 5 with the tear drop form and all aluminum case were for naught. Now with stock prices down by about $19 a share at one point in the day, but closed the day out at just $2.10 down; Apple and Tim Cook will need to find a way to make up for this error.
I think once the Apple fanboys and girls get over the disappointment of being lead astray by favorite sites like Mashable, Gizmodo and Engadget; they will find the iPhone 4s has all of the guts they were looking for in the next version of the iPhone. But not having that slick aluminum super thin case come ready for deliver on Oct 12 will cause much sadness. If we have learned anything from this exercise in new Apple products release presentations in the Tim Cook era… silence is golden. Apple really did nothing to combat or shoot down the rumors of the iPhone 5 with it’s fancy space age form factor and larger screen.
5 Reasons to Upgrade to the iPhone 4s:
If you are like me and you were holding on to your 3Gs waiting for the 5, the updating will be a bit of a no brainer (even if it’s not the exact phone we want). The guts of the iPhone 4s will hopefully make you forget all about the tear drop shaped phone. Seriously, they basically crammed an iPad 2 into the casing of an iPhone; that’s impressive.
Siri: It’s a personal assistant built in to the iPhone 4S.
“Now you can use your voice to use your iPhone. Just talk to Siri as you would to a person: “Do I need an umbrella?” or “Any great burgers around here?” or “Where’s the closest ATM?” Siri not only understands what you say, it knows what you mean.1 It figures out the right apps to use to find the right answer. Then, just like a personal assistant, it answers you. Siri makes phone calls, sends messages, schedules meetings, sets reminders, and more. How much more? Just ask, and Siri tells you that, too.” – Taken directly from Apple’s website.
The Camera is so good it Competes with Point-and-Shoot Cameras.
“This just might be the best camera ever on a phone. And with all-new optics, it just might be the only camera you need. Because behind every shot, you’ve got 8-megapixel resolution and a custom lens with a larger f/2.4 aperture. Not to mention an improved backside illumination sensor, excellent auto white balance, advanced color accuracy, face detection, and reduced motion blur. It all means that no matter how many people, how much light, and how much action you capture, everything looks exactly as it should. And just wait until you see the photos.” – Taken directly from Apple’s website.
The iPhone 4s truly is a World Phone.
“iPhone 4S is the first phone to intelligently switch between two antennas to transmit and receive, so call quality is better. It also doubles the maximum HSDPA data speeds to 14.4 Mbps.8 Which means faster connections, faster loading and reloading, and faster downloads. And iPhone 4S is a world phone, so you can use it almost anywhere. Whether you’re a GSM or CDMA customer, you can roam GSM networks in 200 countries around the world.” – Taken directly from Apple’s website.
For the first time ever there will be a 64GB iPhone.
The almost missed added feature of the biggest iPhone (memory wise) to date. At 64GB you there won’t be time to decide what apps you add to your phone… they can all go on there! This will undoubtedly help with tools like Siri when it comes to the speed of the phone. I know I will be ponying up the dough for the added storage.
There are plenty of reasons not to upgrade to the new iPhone this month, but even if the phone doesn’t look like what was expected; there are also a lot of reasons to make the leap to the new iPhone. Now, I’m not crazy about the iPhone 4s not being the expected iPhone 5, I like many of my 3Gs brothers and sisters are left with little choice but to update now so we can enjoy all the fun extras and speed that will be accompanying the latest addition to the iPhone family. I think there is enough there that won’t really give us the big “Wow” until we get a chance to play with the phone first hand. Until then, we will all just have to wait and see if this will be the iPhone of our dreams; just wrapped in a package we didn’t expect (or necessarily want).
